TV Wall Mounting, Done by a Licensed Electrician
A wall-mounted TV looks great until you see the power lead and HDMI dangling down to a power board on the floor. Most TV mounting on the Sunshine Coast is done by handymen who can put a bracket on a wall but legally cannot run a new power point behind it - so the cables stay visible.
We do it properly. New power point in the wall behind the TV, HDMI and network cabling concealed inside the wall down to the entertainment unit, soundbar mounted to the same level, everything labelled. One licensed electrician (QLD 1510557, NSW 338814C), one quote, finished in a few hours.
Whether it is a 55-inch flat against a plasterboard wall in a Mooloolaba unit, a 75-inch full-motion mount on a brick feature wall in Buderim, or a hidden in-wall recessed mount with the TV set into the cavity - we have done it many times across the Sunshine Coast and we will leave it neat.
TV Mount Types We Install
Fixed (Flat) Wall Mount
TV sits flat to the wall - the cleanest aesthetic, lowest profile, cheapest mount. Best for rooms where you only watch from one position. Most common install for living and bedrooms.
Tilt Mount
TV tilts up or down 5-15 degrees. Useful for mounting higher than ideal (above a fireplace, in a bedroom for foot-of-bed viewing) so the screen still angles toward the seating.
Full-Motion / Articulating Mount
TV swings out from the wall and rotates. Useful for corner installs, kitchen TVs that need to be swung between two viewing positions, or rooms where the seating moves around. Slightly chunkier when retracted but unbeatable flexibility.
In-Wall Recessed Mount
TV is set into a cavity in the wall so it sits flush. The premium aesthetic - looks like a built-in. Requires structural planning during a build or renovation. We handle the cavity framing and electrical work together.
Ceiling-Drop & Outdoor Mounts
Outdoor entertaining areas, alfresco kitchens, gym ceilings, garage workshops. Weatherproof TV with weatherproof mount, cabling run through structural conduit, IP-rated power point.

What's Included In a Proper TV Wall Mount
New Power Point Behind the Screen
A licensed electrician runs a new power point in the wall directly behind the TV. No more visible power lead. Compliant with QLD electrical standards, safety certificate issued.
Hidden HDMI & Network Cabling
HDMI, optical, network and any source cabling concealed inside the wall, dropped down behind the TV unit or into the cavity. Dual-gang plate at each end so you can change cables in future without opening the wall.
Soundbar Mount & Wiring
Soundbar mounted level with the TV (or below it on a built-in shelf), with optical or HDMI ARC connection concealed. Power point added below if needed. Cables tidied so the front of the entertainment area is clean.
Bracket Supply or BYO
We can supply quality TV mounts (Sanus, Vogel's, Crimson AV) at trade pricing, or mount the bracket you already have. Either way - the bracket is sized correctly to your TV weight and wall type.
Cable Concealment Without Opening Walls
Sometimes a quick fix is wanted - paintable cable raceway, or a low-profile in-wall power kit. We will recommend it honestly when chasing the wall is overkill for the budget.
Smart TV & Streaming Setup
Optional add-on - we set up the TV with your home Wi-Fi, sign in to your streaming services, install the apps you actually use, and configure the remote so it controls the soundbar volume. The setup most installers leave for "later".
Wall Types We Mount On
Plasterboard Walls
Standard most-of-the-house wall type. We use the timber stud (not just the plaster) for the bracket fixings, with double-stud reinforcement for larger TVs. Power and cabling fished down through the cavity.
Brick & Masonry Feature Walls
Common in older Sunshine Coast homes and feature walls in newer builds. Hammer-drilled fixings into the brick with the right sleeves and capacity for the TV weight. Surface conduit along skirting if cable cannot fish through.
Tile, Stone & Stacked-Stone
Tricky but doable. We drill through tile or stone with the right bits to prevent cracking, use sleeve fixings into the substrate, and run cabling around the feature rather than through it where possible.
Cavity & Double-Stud Construction
Larger TVs (75-inch+) and heavier full-motion mounts need a structural backing plate or double-stud catch. We assess the wall first and add reinforcement before mounting if needed.
Outdoor & Alfresco Walls
Weatherproof TV, weatherproof mount, IP-rated power point, structural fixings rated for outdoor exposure. Common install for Coolum, Mooloolaba and Pelican Waters alfresco kitchens.
Why Choose Xceed Electrical?
We're not just another electrician. Here's why Sunshine Coast homeowners and businesses trust us.
Licensed Electrician on the Job
A handyman cannot legally run a new power point. Most TV mounts you see with visible power leads are because the installer was not licensed. We are - so the install ends with cables hidden, not draped down the wall.
Fixed Quote, Hour-or-Two Job
Standard mount installs (TV up to 75-inch, plasterboard wall, single power point added) are typically a 1-2 hour job at a fixed price. We will tell you the price before we book in.
No Visible Cables. Ever.
The whole point of mounting a TV is the clean look. Every job ends with cables concealed in the wall (or in low-profile raceway when a chase is not possible) - no exceptions, no apologies.
Insured + Compliant
Workmanship guarantee on every install. Public liability insurance covers your home and our work. Electrical compliance certificate on every new power point we install.

TV Wall Mounting - Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We've got answers.
How much does TV wall mounting cost on the Sunshine Coast?
A standard mount (TV up to 65-inch, plasterboard wall, new power point behind, cables concealed, soundbar mounted) is around $400 to $650. Larger TVs (75-inch+), brick walls, or full-motion mounts are $550 to $900. In-wall recessed installs run $900 to $1,800 depending on cavity work needed. Always quoted upfront.
Can you hide the cables behind the wall?
Yes - that is the whole point. We run a new power point inside the wall directly behind the TV and conceal HDMI, network and any other cables down through the cavity to a hidden plate at the entertainment unit. No visible cables, no power board on the floor.
Do I need an electrician to mount a TV?
For the bracket alone - no. For running a new power point behind the TV (the only way to hide the power lead) - yes, by Queensland law. Most "TV mounting" services do not include a new power point because they are not licensed. We do.
Will you supply the bracket or do I need to buy one?
Either works. We can supply quality brackets (Sanus, Vogel's, Crimson AV) at trade pricing, or use the bracket you already have. We just check the bracket is rated for your TV size and weight before mounting it.
Can you mount a TV on a brick wall?
Yes - common on older Sunshine Coast homes and brick feature walls in newer builds. We hammer-drill into the brick with the right fixings rated for the TV weight. Cable concealment is harder on solid brick but we can run surface cable raceway or cable down via skirting where chasing is not viable.
Can you mount a TV above a fireplace?
Yes - typically with a tilt or pull-down mount so the viewing angle works from seated. We check heat exposure first - some fireplaces (gas, especially) generate too much heat for a TV mounted directly above. We will tell you if the install is a bad idea before you spend money on it.
Can you mount a TV outdoors?
Yes - alfresco kitchens, patios, garages and gym areas. Needs a weatherproof TV (Samsung Terrace, SunBriteTV or similar), weatherproof mount, IP-rated power point and structural fixings. We handle the lot - electrical and mounting in one visit.
Will you set up the TV after mounting?
Yes if you want us to - smart TV setup, Wi-Fi connection, streaming app sign-ins, soundbar pairing, remote configuration. Usually $80 to $150 added to the install.
Can you mount a TV during a renovation for in-wall recessed style?
Yes - this is the cleanest possible install. We work with your builder to frame the cavity, run the power and cabling at frame stage, and come back at lock-up to install the TV. Looks like a built-in. Almost impossible to retrofit later.
Which suburbs do you do TV mounting in?
All of the Sunshine Coast - Noosa, Buderim, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Coolum, Caloundra, Pelican Waters, Sippy Downs, Birtinya, Sunshine Beach, Maleny, Montville and everywhere in between.
