Professional Oven Installation Across the Sunshine Coast

A new oven is one of those jobs that looks simple - drop the unit in, plug it in, walk away. Except in Australia, you cannot. Wall ovens and most freestanding ovens are designed for hardwired connection to a dedicated isolation switch, not a standard 10A wall socket. The supplied cable is short for a reason. The oven needs its own circuit, an accessible isolating switch, and a connection that meets AS/NZS 3000. That is licensed electrical work - not optional, not negotiable.

We install across the whole coast. Down south through Caloundra, Pelican Waters, Currimundi, and Wurtulla. Across the coastal strip in Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Alexandra Headland, and Coolum Beach. Up the ranges to Buderim, Sippy Downs, Mountain Creek, and Forest Glen. And all the way north to Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Sunshine Beach, Peregian Springs, and Peregian Beach. Bosch, Westinghouse, Smeg, Miele, Fisher & Paykel, Asko, Falcon - we install every brand.

The most common oven install we see going wrong is plug-and-play. The previous installer (or DIYer) ran a 10A cable to a wall socket and let the homeowner plug in the supplied lead. The issue: most full-sized ovens draw 14 to 16 amps under load and will trip a 15A circuit, or worse, overheat the cable. We install a dedicated 20A circuit and an accessible isolation switch within reach, the way it is supposed to be done.

Xceed handles every kind of oven install - swapping out an existing oven for a new one, first-time installation in a renovation, double-stack ovens with two dedicated circuits, or full kitchen rough-in for a new build. What sets us apart on the Sunshine Coast is that we install the ovens, the cooktops, the lighting, the smart controls, and the data cabling all under the one licensed team (QLD Electrical Licence 1510557, NSW 338814C). One quote, one trade, one job done right.

Every install is completed to Australian Standard AS/NZS 3000, with appropriate cable size, RCBO protection, and an accessible isolation switch. We test the appliance under load before sign-off and provide a Certificate of Electrical Compliance with every job - required for warranty claims, real estate compliance, and just doing it properly.

Oven Installation Services on the Sunshine Coast

Wall Oven Installation

Single, double, and oversized wall ovens hardwired to dedicated 20A circuits with accessible isolation switches. Standard sizes (60cm, 90cm) and integrated configurations.

Freestanding & Upright Oven Installation

Slide-in and freestanding ovens with full electrical hookup. Includes dedicated circuit, isolator, and load-test before sign-off.

Double Stack & Combi Oven Installation

Twin oven configurations and combination microwave/oven setups. Each unit gets its own dedicated circuit and isolation - one trip does not kill both.

Oven Replacement (Like-for-Like)

Swap your old oven for a new one without rewiring. We confirm the existing circuit and isolation are right for the new unit, or upgrade them as needed.

Steam, Pyrolytic & Smart Ovens

High-spec ovens with steam, pyrolytic self-clean, or Wi-Fi smart features. Higher current draw on pyrolytic mode often needs upgraded cable size.

Kitchen Renovation Oven Rough-In

New circuit, isolator, and connection point installed during kitchen rough-in stage. Builders, kitchen designers, and homeowners welcome.

Removal & Disposal of Old Ovens

Safely disconnect and remove old ovens for replacement projects. Disposal handled. Any wiring repairs or cable upgrades done at the same time.

Choosing and Connecting the Right Oven

Single Oven vs Double Stack

A single 60cm wall oven covers most family cooking. Double-stack ovens (oven plus oven, or oven plus steam) are popular in renovations - each unit needs its own circuit, isolator, and 20A protection. Plan ahead.

Wattage and Current Draw

Most full-sized 60cm ovens draw 3 to 3.6 kW (13 to 16 amps under full load). Larger 90cm ovens and pyrolytic models hit 4.5 to 5 kW (20 to 22 amps). Cable size, breaker rating, and circuit dedication all need to match.

Hardwired vs Plug-In Ovens

Some smaller benchtop ovens come with a 10A plug and run on a regular socket. Anything 14A or above must be hardwired with a dedicated circuit. We will check the data plate before quoting and tell you which you have.

Isolation Switch Position

AS/NZS 3000 requires an accessible isolation switch within reach of the oven, ideally above the bench - not behind the oven where you cannot reach in an emergency. Common install error - we always position correctly.

Pyrolytic Self-Clean Mode Considerations

Pyrolytic ovens hit 500°C during self-clean cycles, drawing peak current. The circuit must be sized for peak load, not just normal cooking draw. Older homes often need cable upgrades to support pyrolytic models.

Smart Oven Wi-Fi & App Control

Modern Bosch, Miele, and Smeg ovens connect to Wi-Fi for app control, recipe download, and notifications. We confirm Wi-Fi reception at the install location and can install network access points if needed.

Oven Installation - Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We've got answers.

How much does oven installation cost on the Sunshine Coast?

A like-for-like oven swap (existing circuit and isolator already in place) typically runs $180 to $260. New installs requiring dedicated circuit and isolation switch run $380 to $680 depending on switchboard distance. Pyrolytic or oversized ovens may need cable upgrades. Every job gets a full upfront quote.

Can I plug a wall oven into a regular power point?

No. Most full-sized wall ovens draw 13 to 16 amps under load - too much for a standard 10A wall socket. They must be hardwired to a dedicated 20A circuit with an accessible isolation switch. Plugging in violates AS/NZS 3000 and voids the manufacturer warranty.

Do I need a licensed electrician to install an oven?

Yes. Hardwiring fixed appliances is licensed electrical work in Queensland. DIY installation voids your home insurance, voids the appliance warranty, and is illegal under the QLD Electrical Safety Act. Every Xceed install is performed by a licensed electrician (QLD Licence 1510557).

How long does oven installation take?

A like-for-like swap with existing circuit takes 45 to 90 minutes. New installs requiring fresh cable run, isolator install, and switchboard work run 2 to 4 hours. Renovation rough-ins are typically half a day. We give you a clear time window with every quote.

Will my old kitchen wiring handle a new oven?

Often yes, sometimes no. Older kitchens with 10A circuits cannot run modern 16A pyrolytic or 90cm ovens. We test the existing circuit during the quote stage and tell you straight if it needs upgrading. Cable upgrade adds to the install cost but is required for safe operation.

Where should the isolation switch be located?

AS/NZS 3000 requires an accessible isolation switch within easy reach of the oven, but not behind it. We typically install above the bench, on a wall adjacent to the oven, or in a nearby cupboard with the door able to be left open. Position is part of the quote.

Can you install both an oven and cooktop on the same day?

Yes - oven plus cooktop is one of our most common combined installs. Each appliance needs its own dedicated circuit and isolation switch. We typically schedule both as a single half-day job. See our cooktop installation page for details.

Do you remove and dispose of my old oven?

Yes. We safely disconnect and remove old ovens during the replacement install. Disposal is handled where requested. Old appliances can also be left for council collection or e-waste recycling - we will help you choose.

What about pyrolytic ovens - do they need special wiring?

Pyrolytic self-clean cycles draw peak current (often 4.5 to 5 kW) for 1 to 2 hours. The circuit, breaker, and cable need to handle that peak load - some older 15A circuits cannot. We size cable for peak draw, not just normal cooking, so the oven runs safely at full capability.

Will a smart oven work without Wi-Fi?

Yes - smart ovens still function as standard ovens without Wi-Fi connection. Wi-Fi adds app control, remote monitoring, recipe downloads, and notifications. We can confirm Wi-Fi signal at the install point and add a network access point if reception is weak.
